Blood and Battle
The crack of a pistol breaks the sky,
A bloody battle cry;
Bodies falling here and there,
And on the ground they lie.
The young boys watch in fascination,
Feeling a thrilling sensation;
Courage, blood, death, and gore:
The boys take it in and still want more.
Stomachs roll as rifles rise,
There is no mercy here;
Live with the guilt of killing--
If not your death is near.
Before you fight you think it's greatest--
Common sense always comes latest;
Then truth hits you in the face:
All you can do is die in haste.
You think you're better than the others,
That God will spare your life;
You're just fools and now you know
That you'll die by his knife.
Before you fight you think it's greatest--
Common sense always comes latest;
Courage, blood, death, and gore:
The boys take it in and still want more.
